Once upon a time, Ireland was a country
isolated from the goings on of the rest of
the world. It was regarded simply as the little
green island which sat out on its own - the
most western point of Europe before the broad
Atlantic.
Then, in the latter half of the 20th century,
our small island - Ireland was the feature
of world media on a regular basis but very
often for the wrong sort of reasons.
Nevertheless, Ireland is today a land at peace
and for once the true nature of our country
is wide open for all to enjoy. |

Now that we find ourselves at the beginning
of the 21st Century - Ireland, like many countries
the world over, is witnessing the dawn of
a new age.
Economically, this is an age when information
is becoming the currency of the present and
the future - an age when Media dominates.
Granted the quaintness of Ireland - images
of which we can quickly conjure up when we
close our eyes and think of turf burning in
an open fire in an old thatched cottage in

found and although the romantic scenarios
of secluded corners and wild and lonely coastlines
do remain there is today another side to Ireland.
Our "wee" country is going from strength
to strength and now that we have found ourselves
in a time of peace, Irelands people are striving
to make a contribution to their country.
Thus, whereas it was once regarded as a backward
place, Ireland now has a booming tiger economy
and is regarded by many as the place to be
seen in all of Europe. In fact, you are just
as likely to encounter the Information Super
Highway as you are to experience are dark
and peaceful country lane.
So if the world is actually becoming the
Global Village that many academics have
predicted then Ireland has secured its site
as the quiet corner pub in that village.
The place where things are pondered over,
where great new hopes are dreamt up and where
there is fun to be had by all - locals and
blow ins alike.
So prepare yourself for a mystical journey
into a land which can be as backward and as
futuristic as you want it to be. It's all
here, just waiting to be discovered and explored. |
