The Land of Saints & Scholars (mind you - there's a few sinners too)!
Due to "the Troubles" which were prevalent throughout Ireland in the 20th Century, religion is often considered a taboo subject.
Very often people have to watch what they say or who they are saying it to and yet at the same time religion is one of the most important aspects of everyday life in Ireland - no matter where you are on the island, and what's more, this has been the case for over 1500 years.
The important thing to point out is that any violence which ocurred in Northern Ireland in the past only took place between a very small minority from the population of either faith (Catholic and Protestant) whilst at the same time the majority keep alive a set of divided religious loyalities established over many, many centuries - but both of which believe in the same God.
After many years of fighting over religious differences Ireland is now (thankfully) at a time of peace - a time when the people of our island can join together as neighbours regardless of their individual beliefs and practices. Long may it last.
